NASIR KHATTAK is the Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Board of the Climate Institute, which is a Washington DC based non-government organization established in 1986. Since 1998, Mr. Khattak has held a number of technical and management positions, and as Director of International Programs has worked on sustainable energy and environmental programs and projects of the Institute in over 20 countries around the world. He is also leading the Institute’s programs and offices in the Middle East and South Asia region.
Mr. Khattak has organized numerous special events at the United Nations Conferences and participated in many international events on Climate Change and renewable energy. He is also coordinating the VISION 20/30 initiative for Small Island Developing States, which is one of the High Impact Initiative recognized by the UN Secretary General’s initiative of Sustainable Energy for All. He helped establish the Global Sustainable Energy Islands Initiative in 2000 as a consortium of international organizations, to assist the small island states of the Caribbean and the Pacific in their energy transformation efforts, including development of national sustainable energy plans and the supporting of the implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
Mr. Khattak has a Master’s degree in Environmental and Energy Management from George Washington University, Washington DC, and a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Law & Political Science from Peshawar, Pakistan.
